Beddmanarch Bay, Holy Island, Anglesey

,

One of the many beaches on Anglesey is Beddmanarch Bay, adjacent to Penrhos Coastal Park on Holy Island, Anglesey.  An expansive bay with far reaching sand and mudflats and views across Traeth y Gribin  to mainland Anglesey’s western coast. One of the spectacles that can be observed from the bay is the sea water gushing through the flume in the Stanley Embankment, Thomas Telford’s feat of engineering which carries the A5, the A55 expressway and the North Wales railway line across the Inland Sea.

Overlooking Beddmanarch Bay, Penrhos Country Park is a lovely place for an afternoon out. Free to park and hardly ever packed. Great for dog walking. Plenty of wheelchair friendly paths to stroll round the woods and if you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of the resident red squirrels. Different routes are clearly marked. Plenty of picnic tables and benches from which to admire the views over the bay and the gently undulating landscape beyond. There’s a look-hut for bird watchers too. Penrhos also has a large badger population – but well hidden from view!  A special piece of Wales.
