Things to do / Places to Visit nearby

Llanddona BeachĀ is a long sandy beach that forms the eastern end of Red Wharf Bay.Ā Located on the Anglesey coastal path, between Benllech and Penmon.Ā Popular for swimming and windsurfing.

Puffin Island – Puffin Island is an uninhabited island off the eastern tip of Anglesey. AĀ Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), unfortunately it is not possible for visitors to land on the island without permission from the landowner. However if you want to see the birds then the best way is to take a boat trip around the island. Boat trips operate all through the summer with three operators. All boats operate from Beaumaris.

Penmon Priory – Remains of the priory dating from the thirteenth century, when the house became part of the Augustinian order. The origins of the site are traditionally associated with St Seiriol in the sixth century.Ā Set in a quiet corner of Anglesey along winding lanes. Ā£3.00 to park here also covers travelling further on to Penmon Point with its beach and view of the lighthouse. Ruins of the Priory with full explanations, an old Dovecote and St Seriol’s church and a well. Plus some pathways to explore. Wonderful views over the Straights to the Snowdonia range.

Anglesey Coastal Path – The Anglesey Coastal Path is a 200-kilometre long-distance footpath around the island of Anglesey in North Wales. Section 6: Pentraeth to Beaumaris

Penmon Lighthouse – Trwyn Du LighthouseĀ is aĀ lighthouseĀ between Black Point nearĀ PenmonĀ and Ynys Seriol, orĀ Puffin Island, at the eastern extremity ofĀ Anglesey, marking the passage between the two islands. Nice place to take some photos or just relax and watch the sea!

Lleiniog Beach – Long sandy and rocky rural beach on the shore of the Menai Straits near Beaumaris. This beach is perfectly located for glorious views of the Snowdonian mountains the Great Orme and of passing boats along the Menai Straits. It offers plenty of space on the beach to play around in the sun as well as to explore rock pools and collect a shell or two!

  • All I would say there was no hair dryer which is understandable because of covid and there was no milk for a cup of tea after a long journey. We think it would have been better had we had known and we could have brought our own. milk was not a big problem but there hair dryer was.
Also there was no remote control for the bedroom TV

  • Just what we needed a lovely relaxing holiday in this well equipped and comfortable cottage. Great location for walking, visiting the nearby villages and lots of lovely local pubs. We would definitely recommend.

  • Our 1st booking through Coastal Holidays for a week on Anglesey. The company had numerous print-outs to give all the information in advance to make good use our time – Walks to do nearby and in different areas, special places for children and cost, places to visit and eat. Tan Y Bryn house was even better than the outline inventory on booking and the online info. A superb house with everything you need to be quiet, The Passant Familywarm, safe and secure and well fed! loads of info. in the house and games for all the family, not to mention several tv’s.Beautifully kept, comfy beds, lots of towels and everything you need in the kitchen including a washing machine, fridge and freezer. We are a bit fussy! but Tan Y Bryn and Coastal Holidays were absolutely superb, can’t recommend them and the house highly enough. The Passant Family

  • We stayed with friends, another retired couple, in March 2017 for just 3 nights; it rained, but we’re not letting that influence our review. The house is entered at ground level with 2 of the bedrooms downstairs; one twin and a double which has an en-suite shower room (the downstairs footprint is only half the size of the upstairs, being built on a slope). The third, largest bedroom is upstairs has a double bed as well as a sofa bed and is on the same, higher level as the open plan lounge/dining/kitchen area. The lounge area has lovely sea views on two sides, so on a clear day (when the rain eased off in our case) there are views from Snowdonia on the right to the Great Orme and most of the North Wales coastline in the middle and the the more local coastline on the left. The house is very well equipped and the only real criticism we had was that there had been no attempt to warm the place up prior to our arrival. It didn’t feel damp – the heating is all electric and although the upstairs soon warmed through, it took quite a while for the downstairs bedroom to get up to temperature. We were probably some of the first guests to arrive in 2017, so it maybe hadn’t been warmed up since winter – a silly time to come really – as evidenced by the rain ! It is accessed by quite narrow roads and is not close to anything much except the Anglesey coastal path which almost goes through the bottom of the garden and is easily accessed from the house. We walked down it to the Penmon lighthouse one (less rainy) day and took shelter at the Pilot House cafe for coffee before walking back via Penmon Priory. The nearest pub/restaurant is the very friendly Owain Glyndwr in Llandona which we drove to every night for dinner, being dog-friendly for our terrier and our our friend’s Labrador. Short of driving back to (and/or through) Beaumaris, there wasn’t a lot of choice for eating out, but we were very happy to go back to the Owain Glyndwr anyway. We had a lovely stay at Tan Y Bryn and we may well return one day – when the weather is likely to be better !
