The surrounding area
On Anglesey, there’s something for everyone, whether you’re planning a family day out with the kids or a relaxing afternoon on one of our lovely sandy beaches, we hope you like some of the suggestions below:

Local info
North coast beaches
Lligwy Beach is situated between Dulas Bay and Moelfre on the north east coast of Anglesey, North Wales. Lligwy is a secluded sandy beach popular with walkers and is on the route of the Anglesey Coastal Path. The beach is popular for swimming, fishing and water sports. Close by is the impressive Lligwy neolithic burial chamber and the Din Lligwy prehistoric settlement.
At the northern end of the A5025, Amlwch is a historic fishing village associated with the ā€˜Copper Kingdom’ of Parys Mountain. These mines have been worked since the Bronze Age, 3,500 years ago and it has been estimated that between 1768 and 1904 , 3.5 million tons of ore had been removed from Parys Mountain to give around 130 000 tons of copper metal. Around 20 km of underground tunnels were excavated. The underground workings were last mined in the early part of the 20th century. The AIHT (Amlwch Industrial Heritage Trust) encourage visitors to the mountain to follow one of the way marked history trails, view The Pearl Engine, The Summit Windmill and the remains of the Great Open Cast from the viewing platform. The landscape and terrain on the mountain is stunning, the colours are amazing, the rock strata is breath taking and well worth a visit.
Or if you fancy getting your feet wet, from Amlwch Port, why not charter a boat for a full days offshore Wreck-fishing trip or a summer’s evening pleasure cruise with Morio Mon – copper Kingdom Cruises.
Amlwch has a range of local bars, restaurants (Little Italy serves great Italian cuisine from an unassuming location – it’s definitely a case of ā€˜don’t judge a book by its cover’! and Quays CafĆ© is a welcome addition to a pretty port. Amlwch has a few shops and hosts a local market every Friday.
The Anglesey Coastal Path from Amlwch Port to Cemaes Bay is one of the most stunning sections of the coastal path in a compact length. Cemaes Bay is an attractive beach resort, close to Cemlyn nature reserve and Church Bay (Porth Swtan) with its tall cliffs and the oldest fully restored cottage on Anglesey. The National Trust heritage coastline boasts mile after mile of uninterrupted walks along the coastal path. Also at Church Bay is the locally renowned ā€˜Lobster Pot’ restaurant and ā€˜Wavecrest’ coffee shop at the end of the coastal path with its speciality cream teas as well as many other homemade delicacies. This area is excellent for all water sports, cycling on the local and national networks, fishing at Llyn Alaw, walking the Anglesey Coastal Path or just quiet reflection.

East coast beaches
Benllech is a popular sea side destination. The Anglesey Coastal Path and the Wales Coast Path pass through Benllech. Lovely sandy beach ideal for building sandcastles and the rock pools are great for catching crabs! Beach rangers patrol the beach in the summer months and provide organised games for the kids. The beach is family friendly with toilets and refreshments nearby. In the summer holidays it’s a very busy beach but the beach is wide enough to find a quiet spot if you so wish. Sections of the beach are ā€˜No dogs’ but there are plenty of areas where dogs are allowed.

West coast and beaches
The west coast of Anglesey offers a wide variety of attractions and places to visit. Holyhead on the Holy Island in the north west of Anglesey is known as Ferry port but it has much more to offer with the ruins of an ancient Roman Fort, and the historic Church of St Cybi’s in the centre of town.
The beautiful beaches of Treddur Bay, Rhoscolyn, and Porth Dafarch are great for family days out. Rhosneigr is a famous water sport resort with a mouth-watering array of cafes and bistros.

  • ā€œA great place to stay in a large group. Very spacious and clean. Everything was as described and we really enjoyed our stayā€

    Sept 2020

  • Good basic holiday accomodation. Would recommend having more comfortable outdoor furniture.
Owners very friendly and very helpful
Coastal Holidays were excellent. Would definitely use them again
Thank them for all their help and advice

    August 2020

  • We booked a weekend away for a large group of adults and children. The house was beautiful, and the rooms were perfect for what we needed. The large conservatory added a good amount of extra room for the kids to play. The facilities were great. Only thing to note is that the house is in the process of having work done. There was a door on the upper level that lead to the roof and down to the garden that did not lock. There were young kids so this was a bit worrying but nothing we couldn’t manage.

    March 2020

  • Nice and quiet position ideal for walks and travel to other parts of the region.
The TREES is roomy with plenty of space for large families.Plenty of parking space. We found it ideal for our party

    August 2020

  • Fantastic accommodation for large family groups. All rooms ensuite with televisions. Very warm comfortable place. Plenty of room for everyone. Conservatory is large and the perfect party games and dancing area. Dogs allowed. Large garden to play ball with the dog.
We had a small problem with the heating when we arrived and phoned the owner and the problem was solved within a few hours.
    Towels and linen provided.
We also managed a lovely coastal walk which was within walking distance from the house. The local area is a bit rundown but lots of beautiful places to visit by car.
We catered for ourselves but there are eating places a short drive away.

    Mar 2020

  • The Trees is a great base for large family groups. 7 ensuite bedrooms, great kitchen facilities and an amazing huge conservatory the children loved playing in! Met the owners, who were lovely and really helpful. Don’t expect high end decor but that doesn’t matter. The place has lots of character and lots of space to relax. A great family base in Anglesey!
